My 2006 Cayman S that got hit in the rear (seems fairly minor). The two little bumper covers are obviously damaged, but it seems the bumper it damaged too from this image? It looks curved I think. Does that mean they need to replace/repair the bumper and may some things behind it too? It seems to the me the exhaust tip is sticking out further than I remember too? Anything else I should be aware of when getting it repaired?

I would get them to clean up that license tag. Wow! It's one thing to hit the back of your car, but then to scribble all over your license tag with a sharpie is just downright adding insult to injury.
The bumper should be easy to fix by any body shop. But that ink? I just dunno.
Bumper does look bent. A good body shop should be able to fix it though. I'm told these bumpers do have a memory, if they are not too bent (yours does not look like it is) hot water or heat gun can get it back in shape without hurting the paint.
Even if it is too far gone, bumper is pretty cheap on these cars
Thanks, I doubt it is worth much now...its a 2006, although it is in perfect shape and only 32k miles. Been a garage queen and the Cayenne is the daily.

I’m not sure if you’ve followed the market for 987-era Caymans lately, but they seem to be on the upswing.
I’ve seen several similar mileage Caymans go for $30K plus lately on Bring-a-Trailer.
As mentioned above it’s often worth avoiding an insurance claim for minor damage as it can really hurt the value of a lower mileage car.

Oh well, I already went through insurance (the other guys insurance is covering it). I'm not sure how much control I have over that really, but I suppose I can ask. I have wondered about the value though. I think the only way you could tell is its not new is there is some wrinkling of the leather (not cracks) on the driver seat left bolster. Other than that, it has basically every option and clear bra from day one...and one minor door ding. I doubt there are many like that out there.
btw, they said the curve there is part of the normal design. It seems to me that is probably the case since it looks symmetric and I think there would have been some significant misalignment at the seems (and maybe cracking in the paint otherwise). Can anyone confirm that? I saw a late model Cayman and it was "smooth", but it didn't have the bumper plugs either.
They are saying they don't see any damage to the bumper and that this is the normal design....just seems odd to me that it would be a Porsche design. I don't remember it being wavy like this but can't really remember.
Take it to a dealer and have their shop look at it. Then go back to the other guys insurance. My brothers 997.2 was barely tapped in the rear. shop opened it up and there was a lot of hidden damage. He was almost ready to let the woman who hit him drive away at first glance.
