I'll also add that the KS cast pistons expand less than the forged pistons. Lastly, the 3.6 and 3.8 have a less favorable rod/stroke ratio and the piston comes out of the bore 7mm vs 2mm with the 2.7, 3.2, and 3.4 engines. Coupled with the fact that Porsche did not use bank specific wrist pin offsets in the pistons, all of these individual items do end up contributing to the greater bore scoring issue. It's not one single smoking gun as some would hope it would be.
