Default Help! Coolant issue

Hello people of rennlist,

I have a very stupid question to ask. My friend who is way too curious decided to open the coolant cap on my 987 boxster after we came back from a drive. Luckily he didn’t open it for too long because I was nearby and stopped the coolant from overflowing into the trunk. However, the coolant might’ve gotten onto the engine/exhaust and started smoking from the cooling vent.

Would there be any detrimental problems that might arise from this incident?

Any insight would be helpful! Thank you!

You did no damage other than make a mess. If you don’t think you lost much fluid just refill what you loss with distilled water so you are back to the proper level. Also find new friends (I’m joking).

Hey thanks so much for replying and hopefully everything would be okay. Also, I don't need to top off the coolant with Porsche coolant? Its okay for me to just use distilled water?

I’m assuming you didn’t lose a whole bunch like a half gallon or so. I’m willing to bet you will only need to add no more than a can of soda or less. That small amount is not going to mess up your ratio and you will be fine.
