Default Oil level discrepancy?

2006 S 83k. Checked the oil level last night after the car sat for about 3 hours. Then checked it again this morning. Has not been driven since checking it last night. Is now showing a lot lower than the first check last night. New to this car and have no idea how the system works and how this can happen. No leaks!!

Thanks for the tip and the video. But I think the video is a gen 2 cayman? He did the oil check with the engine running. Is that how a gen 2 is done. I believe the gen 1 is with the engine off.

Yes, M9X engine's oil levels are to be checked with the car off. It's best to leave the car on a flat surface overnight and then check the level. Again, don't overfill.
