Default A/C during hard driving

Curious if there is any truth to the myth that running A/C during hard driving/high rev's is bad - either for the engine or the AC pump. Does anyone have any real world experience with this? Am I hurting anything if I keep the AC running during a canyon drive or just not getting all the horsepower I could because it is on?

Thanks!

On a modern Porsche, no.

Have a 2016 991.1 GTS. It loses cooling at full throttle/high RPMs so I’m assuming it temporary cuts off the AC. Not sure if that’s a protective action or if it ensures you get maximum power. I believe the engineers would design the system with longevity in mind. I wouldn’t worry about it.

Most cars have had vacuum cut outs for years. I frequently forget to turn it off in staging and am pleasantly surprised when it come back on during cool down laps.

I don’t know how Porsche or other modern cars approach this but in my 2011 M3 at high rpm the a/c compressor would decouple/disengage.
