Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone was running aftermarket 17" wheels on a 987. I found a killer deal on a set of (what was advertised as) used 18" LMs online, only to find out after test fitting that they were actually 17". I contacted the seller to try working it out, and he was only looking to issue a refund once I sent the wheels back.
Anyways - I love the look so far without tires, and was hoping someone else had aftermarket 17"s for comparison so that I don't invest in refinishing these wheels only to swap them out after.
Here are some pics for reference:

Maybe it's the perspective, but the last photo (bottom right) of the rear wheel appears to be the wrong offset for your Boxster. If one were to imagine that wheel with a tire, it seems there would be tire rub at the top of the fender arch. Of course, the suspension geometry might prevent tire rub as the wheel/tire moves upward during compression. Nevertheless, they appear to be nice wheels and 17' tires cost less than 18's.

Thanks for sharing! I think this really helps put it in perspective for me. Hopefully ride quality is great with that setup!
Looks like I'm back on the hunt for 18"s.

The ride quality is great! My Boxster came with 19" wheels... and although they looked great the ride was a quite harsh over normal streets & long distances. So I chose to go with these. Give up some on looks but I think the Cup 2's add a bit of character back.

If given a choice, I too would opt for the smaller wheels. Switched from 19" wheels/tires on my BMW 5 series sedan to 17's and the improvement in ride comfort was amazing. Likewise, I was pleased that my '08 BS came with 18's vice 19's. I am sure they'll be those that disagree, but I really don't know what these huge tire/wheels add other than bling. On the downside, they cost more in every way and are easily road damaged.

Hey all! Quick update -
Picked up Sikh996tt's HREs over the weekend. They're 18x8.5 ET 43 front and 18x11.5 ET30 rear. Here are some pics:
Thanks for all the comments that really helped me decide on 18s!

17” is too small. A 987 needs 19” in my opinion.
