Default Battery Cover

Dude!!! Nothing this simple should be this frustrating. Ha ha.

Replaced the battery. The plastic cover in the front trunk will not close properly to save my life. The hinges on either side will NOT seat properly and the sides bulge accordingly and do not seal.

I am relatively mechanically inclined and I just spent over an hour trying to get this &$@?# piece back in place properly.

it was flat as can be when I opened it to replace the battery. Realize it’s totally cosmetic, but it’s absolutely driving me insane.

For the love of all that’s holy,

what is the trick???

Mine has been exactly the same since day 1. I assumed they are all like this.

Are you certain the two upper tabs are going into their mounting points? It usually requires you to install at an angle top first and then drop it down and turn the two lower tabs.

Positive. I can get the hinge tabs started in the receiving slots. Hold the center tab in place. Drop it down. I can get the pins to lock.

When I put my cover on (I generally leave it off since it's 95% track car, and makes tech inspection quicker) I put the rear tabs in first (closest to windshield), and then shimmy the cover from side to side while lowering the front down. When I do that it usually seats properly. Getting the fasteners to then go in straight and lock is also a challenge.

When it’s nearly dropped you may need to push the corner down one more time to get the tabs to go correctly into the openings. I had the same issue the first time I had mine off and finally figured it out.

My first Cayman was bowed really bad, I ask my independent guy that works on 90% Porsche, he said it is rare that he sees on flat especially on both sides, my current Cayman is only bowed on one side
