Default Mods - Advice please

Hi All,

i want to add about 20/25hp and a better sound to my 981. I was thinking Fabspeed headers (maybe cat less), tune and air filters. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I just added the FVD tune to my 981 Spyder, check out the tune thread here. Overall very satisfied with the purchase.

If you live somewhere where you have smog laws, catless is difficult. Headers with 200 cell cats and a tune will net you at least the 20-25hp you're looking for and increase sound a little bit. But 20-25hp on a 325hp motor (assuming we're talking a Cayman S) is not that much. When I had my headers installed I could tell a difference but only a little. If you have a base Cayman and are looking for more HP why not a Cayman S?

As long as they dont test emissions where you live definitely run race headers, tune (stage 2 since you'll be catless) and K&N or BMC filters. That's what I have. In total it'll add ~40 hp and a ton of awesome sound even with stock exhaust. Many on here including me think the hot ticket is race headers and factory PSE so you can have it fairly tame in closed valve mode and wild with open valve mode.

Dundon Intake Runners are a nice add for power as well!

Hi, I have a base and not an S. I have zero desire to trade for an S as my car is just the way I want it. I was looking for a tiny bit more power. Will a Fabspeed tune and air filters do much??

Fabspeed is just playing with someone else tune.... It's not theirs.

The tun for these car does more than just make power. It does a lot to even out the torque curve when the car comes on Cam.

Headers, IPD Plenum, TB and tune are the recipe for bolt on power and the ideal for a street car IMO.

For brands, I use FVD headers and tune on all my Porsches. I like FVD because they use the same people that Porsche uses for its Factory and RSR cars. Support is incredible. They aren't the only game but they are who I trust and have the best, longest track record bar none.

I wouldn't rule out Fabspeed or Soul either, they have good headers (I have fabspeed) if you can find some for a better price. But headers/tune is the way to go on these cars.

That's problematic for some. I have a well optioned base and would have to give up some things. But I keep looking.

Hey, we'd be happy to help you with both hardware or software. We've got three Caymans in our garage with various stages of mods, why don't you give us a call and we can give you a rundown on all your mod possibilities and what to expect from them.
