This is what happens when you.......
So we went exploring the fall leaves up the Nehalem River this weekend. Checked out a route on google maps and thought it would be a fun couple hours drive on some back roads in the coast mountains. The first 10 miles along the River were great fun and then we got to the closed camp ground and the road changed to gravel. Ok, so it shouldn’t be too much gravel and it is graded pretty well with a minimum of pot holes. Well it ended up being about 16 miles of gravel. We’ve always have been of the mind that our cars are meant to be driven, so we just enjoyed a very scenic and fun drive. We didn’t push it too much, but the Cayman is so well balanced it is pretty fun on gravel. Really easy to control the slides. Fortunately very little traffic on the gravel section. All in all a very fun day. Good to know non paved can be fun too.
Nehalem River
Damp gravel road
At least it’s in good shape
They teased us with short segments of paved along the 16 miles of gravel
It’s never been this dirty
Amazing how much dirt was in the wheel wells
All better, and she’s all happy again.

Dirt in South Dakota
When you want to see Buffalo in S. Dakota you get on dirt roads. This was prior to my Cayman days. We took at least 4 trips across this great country and back to South East PA and were on quite a few gravel roads.. We were in our late 60s then, At 77 I don't go on long drives like this anymore. The last was in 2015.
