Default Wheels, mostly

I had to have my car inspected, its a peculiar Canadian thing that requires out-of-province cars to be inspected as if I had just brought the Porsche from Kabul, not Montreal. Anyway, I had them spin the front wheels as I had a wobble at various speeds, sadly that turned out to be a bent inner front rim. Yuk. No cracks, there is a wheel-fixit guy more or less near me and I don’t track the car. Unfortunately I don’t have a garage for her yet so I need a wheel to hold up that corner while it is being fixed. I have lobster-forks, 19” and I am on the hunt for a single or a set. The question (besides the obvious) is will a set of rims from a 996 (19”) From the same era, fit my 987? I think I found some but being new-ish, I don’t know if they’ll do?

Ok, how about this - will a 996 rim fit on a 987 and how big do the spacers have to be on the rear?

Can you leave it on a jack stand while the wheel is being repaired?

Can’t, no garage yet.

If Boxster rims are 42 mm offset and 966 rims are 67 does that mean I need a 25 mm spacer or does it mean they will stick out of the body a bit because they are 25 mm different? No jack blocks until later this week before I can pull wheels. The fronts are fine, perhaps 2 mm difference but the rears are different.

I’m officially an idiot. The rear 966 rims are too wide and the offset is wrong. I mis-read the tire offsets. Also, if I buy 25mm spacers I will have to get longer bolts. Even then I don’t know if they will work. Aaarrrggghhhh!

Now for the hunt for 2 Boxster 19s. If anybody has a pair of rears? I now have a pair of rims for a 966 with 295-30 19 Pirello Sotto-something winters. Beautiful unmarked rims, 9.5/10. Let me know if you know someone!
