I understand that if you cut open the top of the mufflers on the 981 and remove a one inch section of curved metal tubing that you can essentially recreate the Porsche Sport Exhaust without spending the $3000 that a correct modification would require, or even the Carnewall/Cantrell exhaust mod at $650.

Is this true?

 

It's a decent sound improvement, but still not as good as the sports exhaust. I've had it done to mine and while I am impressed.. will most likely retro fit the sports exhaust myself with the kit and add headers when warranty goes out. Or buy a Cayman R, not sure yet!

Quick for sure. You can also move the clamp in between the connecting pipes + get some x style tail pipes for even more character. However all that said and done I wish I just spent the money on headers or the sports exhaust.
