08 cayman.... tried to start it and the battery is dead...key is now stuck in ignition and the bonnet latch is broke. The plastic piece is gone so there is just a hole there currently. What is the best way to get this back up and running . The key controls won’t work to open it correct ? Can I take the hood off without opening it ?
Cannot help with advice for that.
But will say that using a maintainer like the CTEK is really helpful for preserving battery life I use mine everytime i expect it to sit for 3 days or longer. Persistent use of a battery maintainer on a lead/acid battery prevents sulfation and greatly prolongs battery life.
And if you still have problems, be sure to check/clean the GROUND lead on the battery and where it connects to the chassis.
Maybe even do that just cuz.

Good point. Unfortunately my fuse box lacks the “fake fuse” positive connector displayed in the video. Mine is a 2000, so maybe it’s too old for that. Nobody from the 986 column responded.
Anyway, I charged it overnight through the cigarette lighter and am glad to say that it started! I promptly unlocked the frunk. These new summer tires don’t work in this icey weather so let it idle for about 45 minutes to get some charge from the alternator.
A new solar trickle charger is now on the dashboard to avoid this happening again. The battery was down to 7 volts, so it might be toast.
Nothing has worked yet. I’ve connected to the fuse box terminal and it won’t pop the frunk. I’ll clean the terminal and ground and try again. Is it worth trying to trickle charge through the cigarette lighter ?
