Default 99 Bosxter Engine

Hi,
1999 Boxster, blowing white smoke all over the place, over filled on oil, AOS oil in it. The CEL is flashing, so I shut it down. I decided to pull off the throttle box and intake tunnel, took a peak inside and
lots of metal shaving and chunks in both tunnels. looks to be parts of a piston, and piston rings. I can't figure they got up there?
I don't think I have any option other than pull the engine at this point.
any suggestions?
thanks,

Could be an IMS failure. Although you should have a dual row IMS which is less failure prone than later models.

IMS would not leave metal bits in the intake. This is a piston/ring failure probably along with intake and exhaust valves. Engine will definitely have to be pulled. Only question is wether you want to rebuild it or buy another engine. Lots of options on this, but all expensive.

This needs to be moved to the proper 986 Forum.

Default 99 BOXSTER ENGINE

Thanks for the responses, people are coming over to look today. I figured it was a piston that let go or suffered some fatal failure.
Apparently I posted in the wrong forum, don't stroke out over it

Rude. Give the guy a break. It's his first post on RL. Not a nice way to welcome a new participant.
