Rodent problem
Not sure.
But Toyota owners filed a class action lawsuit because of using soy that attracts rodents in 2016.
The lawsuit's lead plaintiff was from Indiana who had been battling rodent damage under the hood of his 2012 Toyota Tundra for years.

UPDATE:
Turns out that there were mice in both the Cayman and my wife's Merc GLC300. Snap-traps took care of a couple, but the thing that seems to have cleared the garage is a pair of Maxmoxie Ultrasonic Pest Repeller units that I got from Amazon. Even after catching a couple of mice in conventional traps, I knew there were others in the garage because of droppings and the fact that bait was being taken off the traps. I put the Maxmoxie units in place on Tuesday, cleaned all of the droppings out, set glues traps where I knew mice had been traveling and reset the snap-traps with fresh bait. There has been no activity at all since that time, so I'm assuming the ultrasonic units are doing their job.
No idea about damage to the cars yet other than some gnaw marks on foam and plastic and all the debris. Both cars are running fine and have no error messages, but I'll take them in to my indy next week and they'll go through them thoroughly. I'm relatively sure that since I had mice in the Cayman cabin, they chewed through somewhere and that will have to be repaired.
Thanks for all of the advice and recommendations.
