Turo'd a 987.2 base with PDK for 2 days to drive to the keys. It's a strangely optioned car since it has heated+vented seats, Bose & Nav but no sport button.
Due to the PDK keep wanting to shift to 7th gear, the car had great mileage that I would have never dream of but man it needs to drop 3 gears if you want to do a pass on the highway.
Car has close to 100k and have done hundreds of rentals so the interior is a bit beaten up. Apparently the owner had to replace the convertible top and trunk buttons due to people breaking them.
I'll rent through Turo all the time and fully respect the owner's car, but I would NEVER subject my car to having strangers drive it.
Cruising with PDK is easier to just leave it in Drive so it can quickly drop the necessary number of gears when you put your foot down. In the PDK cars I've driven, I only opt to select my owner gears when I'm on the track or on the back roads.
Don't all PDK's have "manual" mode - you kick it in by pulling the central lever back and over to the lift, right? IMO this is the only way to drive a PDK!

Yep, I think what the OP was saying is that it was a bit annoying having to change 3 gears when going to pass someone.
I recently rented an autotragic Mustang GT. 10 gears! If I'm not rowing my own gear, I usually still want control over the gear I'm in. But 10 was just too many.

LOL! 10 gears? Yeesh.
Yes - I had a base 981 Cayman with the sweet little 2.7 engine and drove it in manual 99% of the time. In auto it was a slush box and always trying to keep the revs low and very very un-impressive. Pop it manual and keep the revs above 4000? Beautiful revy little machine.
The problem was lack of sport button. In normal mode, the gas pedal and PDK shifts are retarded.
Manual in the 9x7 must be one of the easiest to use (it's as if they designed it for females), there's very little reason not to unless you're handicapped.
