The tree sap is indeed terrible in the Monterey area, but I had great luck parking my Spyder in my driveway by 1) putting on the Porsche outdoor cover first, and 2) putting a Costco $29 cover on top of the Spyder cover. Worked perfectly. You might have to toss the Costco cover every 6 months or so, but they are cheap.

I was thinking about getting one for my GT4, which unfortunately sits outside since we don't have a garage. Unfortunately it wouldn't fit where I needed it.

Outdoor cover is not a viable long-term solution. Every time you cover a car that is not 100% clean and dry you will accumulate problems with trapped humidity and dirt/dust being rubbed into the paint, especially if it’s windy. After you cover it dirty once, the cover will have trapped dirt/dust that will get rubbed into a 100% clean car. This and the pain of putting the cover on and off will make you dread taking the car out for a drive — better the keep it clean under the cover. Either find a nearby/convenient garage space or sell one car.
