Did some maintenance Today
The 06 Cayman S I just bought had decent records, but not as great towards the latter life of the car. I wasn't sure what had been changed recently, so I decided to start fresh. Changed the oil tonight with Mobil 1 synthetic 0-40, new filter. Took exactly 7.75 qts. Old oil looked clean which I was encouraged by. Checked filter and didn't see any noticeable metal particles in there. Replaced drain plug with magnetic plug. Changed the engine air filter. Very easy to do and old one didn't look bad, but you could tell it was dirty.
Changed the AOS. This took some thought. I couldn't find any really good videos of this. My main problem was getting off the bottom hose. I could not get to clamps. I decided to cut the hose to get the old AOS out. Worked great. The best way I found to getting the new one back in was to attach the new hose to the engine block first and clamp it down. Then I took the smallest pair of vice grips I could find and clamped them on the hose clamp to keep it open. Then I put the new AOS back in and seated it down on the hose. Then I carefully slid the vice grips up to put the open hose clamp in the right place and released the vice grips. Worked perfectly. Tightened down the 2 bolts and reattached the 2 other hoses and all was good.
It seems like it accelerates better and sounds smoother, but I think that is always the case when you do work to a car. The mind plays tricks on you. Anyway, all in all, not bad at all to work on this car. I think next weekend will be the plugs and coils.

Congrats...
I too just got an 06... in my case I'm stripping the car down to bones... There are things like the AOS that scared me to do with the motor in the car.
I have the motor out of the car now, if you need any pics of where things are, just let me know.
