I'm surprised at the lack of depth of the PPI. I had TRE do the PPI for my 993 about 6 years ago and it was incredibly thorough. I do think Dave and Co. are air cooled specialists and was kind of surprised to see their name come up in the context of a Cayman PPI.
My initial opinion of this car remains, I'd walk and find a better example.

Now back to 160K miles car, besides Diesel Engines no other engine will last as long than a Boxter configuration. Sure 160K is a bunch of miles and if some receipts can be produced on some of the maintenance items that would offer some piece of mind. But if the car has that many miles then it should be offered at a HUGE, HUGE discount. The Discount should be so great that one could replace every single Nut and Bolt under that hood and even replace or performance rebuild an engine for the Boxster for the cost of the savings over what you consider what the 160K Miles Should would be Valued at if it had Average Miles, wear and tare. And you have to come up with that Value. And that will be half the fun.
I say use the Kelley Blue Book online with the mileage just for p00p and giggles. More than likely you are not going to see the small price you are expecting. But at that Mileage YOU set the Market because 99.9% of buyers will run when they here the mileage it actually has. The bit with the higher type mileage is called "The Ferrari Syndrome". Once you buy a Ferrari new Ferrari then you freak out because you never know much the miles on a Ferrari will effect the ultimate value on it (more so than any other)

Here's the report. I was hoping for much more detail. It was done by the owner and they are not your average Porsche repair shop by no means. This tells me that it was well taken care of. But it's still a long shot. I was almost hoping he would find a lot of faults and say don't buy.
Have a Real PORSCHE PPI inspector do an inspetion. And if the other shop charged you for the PPI it needs to be refunded because ultimately this was not an Independent inspection. More so if this is the shop that has always worked on the car.
Edit Sorry I had not read the second and third pages. But I adamantly stand by what I Said! Who would you believe an indepent PPI inspector or a shop and guy who are trying to sell a questionable car. Also after a real ppi and you are and you are about to sign your name on the contract be sure to make some Caveats with anything that concerns your purchase.

It must always be an independent inspector period. Remember this is someone that is trying to sell you a car. Being a Business Major and former CPA student one of the first things they learn you in being A CPA major is you must have division between jobs. Like the person who writes out the deposit slip DOES NOT have access to take write checks or take cash out of that same account. There needs to be a division of work that will ensure that your business will not lead to tempting situations for employees in taking advantage of your businesses.

Two different companies. I asked Dave to comment on the inspection. He's the owner and the one that did the inspection. Here's what he had to say.
We did a pre purchase inspection on this very Cayman S yesterday and were surprised on how decent it is. There were no rattles, squeaks, groans, from the chassis. The car had to be maintained to a fairly high level as everything looked like a 50k mile car, and not the 160k shown. This was not a used car lot special either , where they over detail everything with a gloss clear coat on the drive train. Thankfully the selling dealer wanted to show the car as-is.
Performance is right up to spec and the computer only showed a mild amount of Range 1 revs. Everything works as it should. The only complaints ( if you can call it that) for a real world drive every day car, is the rock chips on the front end , the need for new tires, and a intermittent front hood switch problem.

Sorry OP you are either a fool or a troll. After 3 pages of experienced Porsche owners telling you to walk away from this car you still insist on pursuing it.
I think you should pay the asking price for this Cayman and buy that warranty too.

TRE is not a dealer and the only connection they have with the car is I had them do the PPI.

Not so much frustrated as trying to be as clear as possible. I truly appreciate everyone's input. I knew that most members would advise against this purchase. I wasn't prepared for the universal agreement against the purchase. It's been very helpful and making me face the issues even more than I was already.
