Finished the first two piece splitter for the 987.1. This car has been lowered two and a half inches from stock ride height. With the blade off the car there is 4-1/2" ground clearance. Blade portion attached we end up with 4" ground clearance. I can adjust ground clearance by about an inch in the assembly process. I can move ground clearance for the blade down for track use. A lot of the 996s I set up with two blade one at 4" for street use and a second at 3" for the track. In order to do this I require measurements from the car as to ride height so the splitter can be assembled to the correct clearances. The shiny fasteners are 8 Dzus holding the two sections of the splitter together.

The Gen 2 987 splitter is finally complete. We had some gel coat mixed to try and get a color match to the silver trim and it looks pretty good. Not exact as it is gel coat and not a surface paint. Here are a few pictures.

Purely based on cosmetics, the 987.2 version seems "too tall" especially compared to the 2-piece version on the 987.1. Would be nice to see a lower-profile one developed for the 987.2 with appearance of the 2-piece splitter.

Yes it does look tall. One reason is the factory pieces are on an up slope angle from the front to the wheel wells. I had to make the sides tall enough to cover the bumper below the splitter blade at the wheel wells. With the way it is now there is 5" ground clearance from the bottom of the blade at factory ride height. Yes I will be making this into a two piece version as well, in which case it can go up or down depending on the car. I'm still concerned about exposing the bottom of the bumper at the wheel wells.

Got the first chance to run my Cayman on-track with the splitter. Initial thoughts:
-on a high-speed track like Mosport, the splitter's effectiveness is dramatic
-noticeable improvement in turn-in
-as expected, improved front grip on turns with major elevation change (downhill) lightens the rear end, making improved rear aero a must
-I would be interested in moving to a rear diffuser and/or a larger rear wing to further balance aero
I am very impressed with how nicely the splitter fit and how good it looks as well. For those like me who have track-based Caymans, using a set of Race Ramps gave me enough additional clearance to load/unload the car from my Trailex.
