Default Ran into next gen Cayman today

While out running a couple of errands in the Cayman, I ran across the new Cayman, Boxster, and two 911's high altitude testing. I spoke briefly with the driver of the Cayman and he confirmed it was a four cylinder turbo. Sorry for the poor pictures but it was hard to capture anything good while driving.

Darn... I really like the current tail-lights... I wonder how they are going to make the 4-point led thing work...

I agree. They looked silly. I like the spacing of the tail pipes on the 911. I wonder if that has to do with fitting the turbo's. Also, notice the turbo-like vents on the corners of the back bumper.

The driver in the Cayman goosed it a couple of times and it sounds pretty nice. The video doesn't do it justice. It popped on the overrun just like the Cayman's today.

Next gen would infer a new model code number, right? Do we go up or do we go down? 982? 980?

So many questions, so little time.

Next generation will be 981.2. I wonder if four cylinders is an across the board change except the specialty cars.

Well, they could have gone all-out and made it spit fire like a 936....

The 911 (991.2) in your photos appears to have the new and different rear deck (engine cover) that we've been seeing in lots of other photos. The Boxster still has a single tail pipe while the Cayman had twins. Those look the same as current models to me. And, while the pipes on the 911 were spaced a lot closer together than the current model, there were still only two total. Does that mean that this particular car was the new Base Carrera with FI? I think I recall seeing a photo of another 991.2 that still had the usual four tail pipes. Can anyone recall?
