I so wanted to be there, but my friend decided to plan a wedding next weekend in Charlevoix. I had to chose one weekend in Northern MI this summer.

I chose poorly

I said this before, but we aren't there since the registration instructions stated that all registrants within the first 48 hours would be treated equally. To me, that meant all would have an even chance at any event, as long as you registered in the first two days. When I failed to register at 0001 on day one, both driving tours we wanted were "sold out". I guess I misunderstood what the instructions meant, much to my chagrin.
So, we saved a few thou but I would have rather gone.
Monterey sounds fun, but that's a bit of a drive for us.

Sorry this happened to you. Here's a tip for the driving tours when they fill up. Offer to be a volunteer. May not help you this year, but maybe in the future. PM me if you want the contact info.

Hummmm. Interesting. When Parade was here in the Chicago area (St. Charles) back in 2011, I am almost certain the Concours was a weekend, not a weekday. Oh, well.

PCA Parade Concours has been normally held on a Monday....since I started attending back in 1981! However, it was moved to Sunday July 4th for the St. Charles Parade to combine it that year with our nation's 'birthday' celebration!

http://parade2010.pca.org/schedule.html

However, that is rare and you will most likely see the Concours on a Monday on all future PCA Parades! The Concours banquet used to be held that same night. But due to scoring delays and/or protests, the results often came late into the night! So the Concours banquet has been moved to the following day in recent years!

If you decide to go to one Parade, I suggest you chose 'Monterey' in 2014! The Concours field, because of the ready supply of vintage Porsches in the West, should be spectacular and double in size of a normal Parade!

Hope to see you all there in my home turf!

Saludos,
Eduardo

PS Thanks for the photos, Steve. How did you do in the competition?

this is our third Parade, first was 3 years ago at Savannah
each has been a "long drive" and it will be even longer next year when we go visit Eduardo
as a hint from a rookie, just because the tours "fill up" doesn't mean you can't go
they have added driving tours nearly every week since registration started
plus, you can always "tour" on your own

last year we did our first concours
this year we skipped the concours (saving the Spyder for Monterey) and did the Rally
so, now we have one concours and one rally under our belts, feel like pros

they just unveiled the GT3 at tonite's concours banquet
so, in addition to the 50th 911 edition, we have a new 991 GT3 to gawk at for the rest of the week

this year's concours was twice as big as last year's event in Salt Lake
the new street class garnered lots of participants

the concours site was truly a field of dreams

This is our first Parade. It is interesting how those who arrive after Sunday are treated as pariahs.

We had lots of trouble picking up our pre-reg info (could't get it at all Tuesday evening and almost didn't get it Wednesday), and missed a Wed event due to not having the material. It also wasn't possible to add a person to my car for the drives as there is no mechanism in-place to do so.

You would think that attendees would be treated better than that no matter what day they came in.
