Default Boxster S 981 naked

Hello ,
did anyone tried or own a new bxster S 981 without : pasm , ptv , sport plus , Pdk, 20 inches wheels etc?
Is a boxster S with 19 inch wheels and a sport exhaust a ridiculous car ? Is it
possible to have fun without spending 20000 $ more in options ?
Thanks for your advises.

I think the 19" wheels look great on the car, personally. 19" wheels with sport exhaust is a perfectly good way to go. You'll have just as much fun as everyone else. The only thing I would consider on top of that is the PASM. The car rides too high without it, and PASM is supposed to work very well.

I have an order in with tons of options, but went with the 19" wheels. Not a money thing, but I just prefer the look of those wheels versus the 20" options, especially painted black.

I have a naked car: 19" wheels, no PASM, no PTV, no SCP, no PDK, not even PSE (not available when I ordered)

It's really excellent. I would add PASM though if ordering again.

I have a 981 base on order with 6sp & 19" wheels. The only options I got were heated and ventilated seats. Also didn't care about the "S". 265 HP is more than enough for the care.

Get the PTV and PASM and sport seats plus and you're good to go. Sport chrono gets you motor mounts too which should be a nice performance add.

(so why is my build spec $82K!!?)

That's the problem with the 981... You hit 80k+ just for the basics real quick.
IMHO these are a must with the 981:
-PASM
-PTV
-Sport Steering Wheel
-Full Leather
-Sport Plus Seats

Nice to Haves:
-Nav if you want full iPhone integration and Added features
-20" wheels visually look nicer
-Cooling Seats

The 981 comes standard with Xenon's (just not adaptive).
This all personal opinion of course.

I did: PASM, Sport Chrono, 20" wheels, colored crests (about as inexpensive an option as possible!), model delete (FREE!). Oh, and plat silver paint. Well under $80 (under $70) and has the go fast, aesthetics (wheels and PASM) that I think are necessary. Was going to do Bose but this year's stereo sounds pretty good w/o.

no no.... you don't need PTV. how often do you track and even then it is worth a couple of seconds punching out of turns. The only option needed is PASM and PSE......... ok ok,, i love the bi-colour orange/agate grey interior and the sport chrono with the shift light and the bi-xenons PDLS which are higher output than the standard xenons and the PCCBs.. oh what the heck, might as well throw in the carbon buckets as well.........

Sport Chrono has a shift light? Cool!

+1, agree with this. PASM and PSE are the 2 must haves. Sport Chrono only if you opted for PDK. PTV is not a good thing, IMO. My friend's 997.2 Turbo S has PTV, and we think that he destroyed his brake pads (down to the metal backing) in only 2 track days because of PTV. His front pads look fine, but the PTV wore his rear pads prematurely. His rear ceramic rotors are starting to show signs of wear already too.

Any Boxster will be fun and way beyond my driving skills. But I'm a gadgeteer. I love the latest gizmo. So I ordered my Boxster with the S, and lots of go fast, look good, feel good and sound good options.

Just because!

Order yours the way you want it. Don't worry about the rest of us. No matter how you order it, it will be fun!

Ortho and knooni, I opted for the PTV (way overpriced!) as I have an on ramp to the freeway where the PSM was very intrusive. I just want a linear reaction when the limited slip kicks in, not the electronics shutting things down! Hope I am not disappointed. Believe my ride came ashore today in Oxnard.

I drove the 981 and thought it was a great car even in a very base form but I would at the very least include 20" rims/tires [look great] and xenon headlights [not std in Canada].
