Default Spyder Car Cover...Boxster S or Cayman...

Yes I know this has been discussed before and I know the 07 Boxster S Indoor Cover seemed to fit the Spyder just fine. I am wondering if people think a Cayman cover might fit better since it would seem to follow the roof line and top profile.

Any thoughts as to which would be better? I think the Cayman width and length are pretty similar to the Boxster

Your logic makes sense. If I was in the market for a cover, I would buy a Cayman cover.

That was my thought process...bought a Cayman cover, and it fits the Spyder perfectly.

I've noticed that some of the car cover manufacturers now offer a specific cover for the Spyder. You have to look through a few websites before you find one. I'm buying one this fall for the winter storage and I'll post a few websites that offer the Spyder cover.

I agree that a good alternative would be the Cayman cover and most covers are flexible enough that they should fit perfectly.

Ended up getting the Cayman, I'll put it on later and take some pics.

I am sure Covercraft or California Car Cover can make custom ones for the Spyder, just figured like others have said a Cayman one should stretch enough to get the job done.

I bought the California Car Cover Dustop Indoor for my Spyder and love it. It was spec'd for a Boxster, but fits the Spyder perfectly.

Ok here is a quick shot showing the Cayman indoor car cover I got and also showing the other RL member with a 07 Boxster S cover. Kinda hard to tell, but looks like the Cayman cover might put a little less stress on the top area due to the profile of the Cayman roof line......

Kinda hard to tell from the angle. The factory Porsche cover is very nice, almost like lingerie for the car It's like a silk material on the outside and a nice fleece on the inside.

The cover looks like a perfect fit, thank you for posting the pictures. Does the fleece material on the inside shed on the top at all?

I use the outdoor 996 cover for inside use. More protection if someone bumps it. It's a very very tight fit, which I like. The older outdoor covers are nicer than the new ones.

I had also heard the older covers are nicer than the new ones. The one I got is an 06-08 cayman indoor cover.

Marine Blue, I haven't taken it off yet to see

Yes the fleece material did shed on mine, cleaned right up with a lint roller.

Here is another pic from the front of the Boxster S cover on my Spyder, tight fit.
