Default Base caliper color.

I bought a 2010 base Boxster. One of the previous owners painted the calipers red. I would like to paint them the original base color, but I’m not sure whether it’s black or a grey color. If anyone has a picture of the base calipers could you post it? Thanks in advance.

Base Cayman (black when new, then fades to gray).

Hey there...the calipers on the Base cars are black. These are both my 981 and 987 Base Caymans. (Harder to see on the 987...but you can just barely get a glimpse.) Both cars are the original caliper paint + waxed.

Black would definitely be easier. Thanks!

Are you changing it because you prefer the look of black, or so it's more original and doesn't look kind of like a S?

I want to put it back to original. It’s not an S and I feel like I’m trying to pass it off as an S when it isn’t. Someone also changed the exhaust tips to the Dual S tips which I will be changing back to original also.

Black is the original color, they go grey as they age.

Fair enough! I wouldn't judge someone for having red calipers on a base since I think they just look better, but nothing wrong with going original.

Before you get too worried about looks, don't forget that the caliper is exactly the same as the S except for the paint. So it's Porsche -- not you -- who is trying to pass off the S caliper as being something special by painting it red.

Only the rotor is different from base to S, not the caliper.

Ah, that makes sense. I edited my post to prevent confusion.

The base car calipers are black, but they are anodized, not painted. As they age, chemicals and UV tend to bleach them, sometimes making them fade and look grayish.
