Depending on the model car an entire set should be less than $400. Most applications will be in the $150 range for a set. Call Brad at shopTPMS.com 714-692-8767

Since this writing, I have installed 4 Autel Mx sensors in my track wheels for my 987.2CS as well as another set of Autel MX in a set of winter wheels on my 981 GTS.

Both perform perfectly and the ones in the 987 have stood up to serious track use.

The best part is these sensors are able to become clones of the original sensors therefore the car does not know they are different and you do not have to perform the relearn procedure (provided they go back in the identical wheel positions on the car).

An independent tire shop that carries them should be able to install them for you for $400 or less for the set of 4.

They shouldn't have to remount and balance. Just push the bead down in the area of the sensor and swap it out.

You can also request the metal valve stems for a little more $

It's the remounting and rebalancing that jacks up the price. Porsche dealers will charge $300 - $400 just for that, and then of course you'll be paying double the price for sensors. So between the price of the sensors and rebalancing, you are already at $1100 - $1200. So I can easily see a Porsche dealer charging $1400 - $1500 or more for this service. Your local tire shop will charge about half that price. I was quoted $86 for each sensor plus installation charges.

So here's where timing is everything. The car says "My wheels need straightening and my TPMS sensors could stand replacement. Let's go to the Porsche dealer!" I reply "Just relax for a bit. Once your tires are worn out I'll get you all new rubber, straighten and rebalance your wheels, get rid of your curb rash AND replace your TPMS, all at one go. At my local Indy. How's THAT sound?!"

Check out Costco. My brother was quoted 35.00 per sensor installed. And knowing Costco and their amazing return policy, I'd do it in a heartbeat if I had to replace those sensors.

For a Porsche? That would be about $15 a sensor excluding installation, assuming that a rebalance isn't required.

It's their not so amazing technicians that are the concern.

Scratched rims on low profile tires is almost a given unless you're a skilled tech and hopefully using a Hunter balancing machine. The small additional $ at a good tire place to avoid a $$ wheel scratch is worth it.

I just paid $143 each for some Audi TPMS sensors. Of course, they display temp and pressure. Not sure if there are aftermarket ones that do the same.

Pricing is all over thew map. Generic ones like from Costco do work but if your switching wheels with OEM sensors then the Costco ones will need to be re-set
