This BaT ad and the ad for the previous 987 Spyder sold on BaT just the other day both reference the following:

"891 US-market Boxster Spyders were produced for the 2011 and 2012 model years . . . ."

Curious as to how the definitive number of U.S. 987 Spyders was ascertained. Did Porsche divulge this figure? Did it appear in an authoritative article or text? I'd like to know the exact number of U.S. (or North American) 981 Spyders made, but haven't been able to pin down the number.

There is a thread here on Rennlist that explains how that number was arrived, I’ll try to find it and post it here for you. It should be pretty accurate based upon how it was derived. Perhaps you could use the same approach to establish the exact number of 981’s shipped to North America

yes. there is a thread here from a few years ago, lot's of numbers and info. wouldn't it be great if Porsche AG just disclosed the numbers?

Here is the thread with the production numbers: https://rennlist.com/forums/987-981-...er-spyder.html

It sure would be nice if Porsche not only released production numbers but also confirmed transmission type at least.....

Thanks! I do now recall this thread and the contact Only1Buck made with Eduardo's source at Porsche Archives. Wondering if a similar inquiry re 981 Spyder production figures might bear fruit . . . .

Aqua Blue is a rare color on the 987 Spyder, and beautiful IMHO

Every time I see a 987.2 Spyder that gorgeous pop up my heart sinks because I loathe the thought of explaining to my wife why I need it. Then I see the PDK and breathe a sigh of relief. Whew. Crisis averted.

A 6mt aqua blue was sold here a few months back and I'm kicking myself.

$64.5K plus BAT fees! Wow is all I can say.

It's good to see these cars finally starting to bring some $$ (although there's still plenty of room to run IMO) and I hope this does signal a continuing upward trend that is long overdue. I've scratched my head for some time and expressed here repeatedly confusion as to why these cars are underpriced and underappreciated. Special doesn't begin to describe these cars. Get them while you can and hold on tight.

987.2 Spyders are increasing in value. Good condition ones anyway... which are getting harder and harder to come by!

So should I get rid of my 987.1 Boxster and get a Spyder to join the Cayman R? I know there's a white one and a black one kicking around Southeast Michigan.

There are now 2 Peridot Green Cayman R's for sale at $70K, one really low miles and one at 30K. Spyders seem to be all over the place price wise, seems like a basic white with PDK can be had for $50+ anytime, but some folks want a lot more. Interesting times.

I wasn’t expecting it to go as high as it did but there were two people who wanted the car badly enough. It’s certainly a unique color combo and it’s nice to see that the good Spyders are appreciated/appreciating.

Prices will continue to be all over the board but one thing is for certain, the lower mileage, excellent condition more unique examples are definitely going up. Another very common trend I have seen consistently now are many former Spyder owners who want to jump back in and get another.
