Spent some time polishing the car tonight to add some shine and rid some swirls.
Meguiars 205 and their yellow pad worked well and added a nice shine, but it did nothing on the bigger defects. Need to go deeper next time!
Clay bar was just adding scratches, so I stopped early. Used a Chemical Guys kit. Last time I used a Meguiars kit and didnt have this problem. Probably user error.
I'll follow up with better pics when the rain goes away.

The Paint looks good, nice job!
Clay should be done prior to polishing and yes it will leave scratches in the paint. 205 can be used for removing larger defects but you’ll need a different pad. Meguiars 105 is a better choice for removing larger defects and then you’ll need to follow it again with 205 to bring back the gloss.
Personally I would leave it alone as long as the defects aren’t significant, removing too much paint will just mean you have less to work with later and eventually the only way to fix it will mean a full respray.

Very nice score! I love the 987.2 Caymans but never was a fan of the R fixed wing. You almost have an R but without the wing. That black paint will keep you busy when your not driving her.

Compared to my 987.1, this car is such a refinement. Newer feel while retaining the very mechanical character, good thing.
The power at 330 bhp is nice and punchy, and still has the same hiccup at 2800 rpm that the last motor did. Considering a tune to smooth it out. I have no intentions of further power adders. Super happy with the Remus exhaust note, it reminds you that you are driving a sports car. Sounds beautiful.
Handling and suspension is where I have been struggling. The PASM suspension is a huge compromise in search for comfort and shock factor. In normal, the car was way underdamped and would wobble over bumps. So bad that coffee would come splashing out of containers due to the side to side motion. As a suspension engineer, I find this really terrible.
In sport the ride became bouncy and stiff. The only time it came alive was on glass roads.
I was going to replace PASM with R coils or maybe aftermarket, quickly losing faith in PASM, and irritated at the $3k bill looming. Then I decided to order the DSC Sport module that plugs in and offers a "tune" for the suspension. We are in the future.
It works, the car is so much more planted and composed in normal mode! It has changed the way I see the car! Even Sport mode is comfortable, imagine that. Phew, dodged a bullet there.
Finally, aesthetics. I am trying to build on the "Black Edition" and can't come to terms with the silver lip on the wheels. I am currently sourcing some black wheels to complete the look.
I added the headlight surround decals, they look nice but it is still just a sticker. Have yet to I stall the R ghost stripe. Once the wheels show up, photo time!

+1 on the DSC PASM module. I put that on my 987.1 and consider it one of my best mods to date. My next move will be to replace the stock PASM shocks with Bilstein Damptronics (B16). I understand that those take handling to the next level plus give you height adjust-ability.

My jet black 6 speed Cayman R had PCCB, LWBs, Bose, Sat Nav, Sat Radio, auto AC, factory short shift, LSD, PSE, Sport Chrono, silver Spyder wheels, alcantara wrapped sport steering wheel, and more. Not every R was minimal. The OP's car was pretty close to mine. Any 987 with PCCB is rare.

I finally took the time to install the ghost stripes last night. Man what a pain! The left side turned out really well, with the right not the best, but overall looks good I think! Almost too subtle, almost.
