Default rear trunk light issue

(2005 987 Boxster) I'm trying to sort out a non-working rear trunk light. I fixed the front by cleaning and lubing the switch attached to the latch. The rear seems to be different? The switch in the latch seems to be responsible for the "boot lid open" alert, but not the light? Is this correct, does anyone know where the light switch is located?

You need to isolate the problem - switch or bulb or rear control module or wiring. Good scanner with the actuation tests would be able to help.

Not the bulb, not sure if I'm looking at the right switch-was hoping someone could say. Any suggestions on a scanner-looking for something to reset oil service light as well?

You need to check the status of the contacts on rear control unit:

Connector A contact # 5 - does it change the state when you open or close the rear hood (should be short to ground when the rear hood is open and open line when the rear hood is closed)?
Connector C contact #1 - does it have 12v when the rear hood is open (assuming the above test went OK)?

Thanks, please excuse my ignorance, I'm new to this car. Is there a preferred guide/service manual to locate these connectors?

Thanks much, looks like I may have to wait until spring to dive in fully.
