Can paddles be removed from 981 Sport Design wheel
Hi All,
Looking to swap my '09 987.2 (but it's really 987.1 carryover) triangle bag & steering wheel with a sport design 981 wheel. I will of course need the round airbag but just looking around at what is available, there are many more pdk wheels out there than manuals. I have a manual and would be willing to pick up a pdk wheel so long as I could remove the paddles. Not too concerned about holes in the back where the paddles were. I was hoping someone could confirm that A) the paddles can be easily removed, and B) that there wouldn't be any other complications swapping the wheels. Both my wheel and the 981 Sport Design have no buttons (besides the rear paddles) and are non-multi-function wheels. I did see an old post where someone seemingly did this but they left their paddles on. I was hoping to avoid that. Thx

This is the post I was referring to. It appears the OP swapped an '11 Cayenne SportDesign wheel (which I assume is the same as a 981 SportDesign wheel-looks identical) into his '05 987.1 BS. He specifically mentions the splines and plugs all fit.

Unless the early SportDesign wheel of the '11 Cayenne changed from the identical looking 981 SportDesign wheel then it should fit. I was more looking to confirm that the paddles could be removed easily & neatly without doing a hatchet job.
