Default Spyder at COTA

My wife wanted to try the new Spyder at COTA so I decided to instruct and take the new car out for a couple sessions. I was in the instructor/fast student group. Our car was dead stock...I never checked the tire pressures.

I was able to run down and pass every GT4 in the run group. I love this car...it was so much fun to drive. No brake pedal pressure issues at all. The only issue was that the tire pressures got really high when I got into it. (+10PSI in 5 laps!)

With R7s and a little alignment changes the car will be great. Love it!

I will post some video when I get a chance.

what alignment changes do you suggest?.. and are these just for track or also for road?

did you sense any chassis flex with having a convertible at the track?

I am anxious to see your video. I drove in the parade laps at COTA in Sept in my Macan. Of course it was not at speed. (BTW-I do not track). But, it would be a thrill to take the Spyder out on COTA I am sure.

No flex at all. I even took a lap where I drove the fast line jumping the curbs.

I would not do that all the time...I would need a cage to stiffen the chassis.

I'm one of the GT4 casualties. texasviany can wheel a car much better than me! It was great seeing the Spyder out there filling up my mirrors, I kept thinking.. who the hell is driving that thing?

I would like instruction from you and ShakeNBake, you guys have some jedi mind tricks I would like to learn.

I forgot to answer the alignment question. I woud max the front camber an add to the total toe out slightly as a compromise. I am not going to add camber plates...the car will live its life as a street car.

I think that the cars were very even and you let me by because you are a nice guy! I was surprised to see that the cars were dead even on the straights. I assumed that the Spyder would have more drag. There would have to be a point when the GT4 would pull away. I may learn for myself soon...I may have a GT4 allocation coming. (Fingers crossed.)

looks fun! Looks like you were short shifting out there? Where you pushing it or keeping it off the redline? Nice looking track, looks safe.

Yes...I was doing a lot of short shifting...once I get to 2500 miles, I will wring its neck.

Thanks for the video, nice driving! I wanted to swap with you and follow but unfortunately I got stuck behind that black Merc GTS who didn't point me by for whatever reason for 2 laps.

You are right, the cars were very even down the straight. I'm running max aero front and rear on the GT4, but you were running top down in the Spyder which had to be fun!

Glad you might have found a GT4 allocation, I hope you get it!
