Stop the annoying horn beep locking car
Happy New Year fellow Rennlisters!!!
Anyone know of a way to stop the annoying horn double beep upon locking the car. I've tried looking in the manual, double clicking key fob, etc.
Previous P cars I've owned didn't do this.
I'm thinking it will require a trip to Porsche service & a tech with PIWIS cable.
The idea of a quiet locking of the vehicle remains elusive, any suggestions appreciated.

Correct. Dealer has to turn it off.
Or you could do what I did yesterday...

In my 981 Cayman it was a simple matter to remove this horn, which is located in front of the master cylinder. This is not part of the safety horn system and causes no error codes. I taped up the connector to keep dirt out so that the process is reversible. Now the car makes an audible but subtle clunk when the door lock button is depressed.

The one linked in the thread from post #2 above. Was $7.25 shipped. Arrived in about 12 days. You will need to sign for it. Or pick it up at the post office. Or fill out the form authorizing them to leave it. A little bit quieter but a much less sharp tone. I'll leave it as-is for a while but might consider wrapping it in some sort of insulation to make it even quieter. Mainly because at work I park in a parking deck with the front of the car right next to a concrete wall and the sound bounces off it aggressively in that enclosed space.

I also followed the P-9 post when I fixed this problem a couple years ago, but I found my 86 dB buzzer at a local Radio Shack:
Used a couple of flat connectors for the wires and taped it to keep dirt out. Not elegant but not visible either.

You have to hear the “meep meep” sound to understand the problem. It is a sound that would seem more suited to a Honda Fit or Fiat. Actually, I can’t even think of a car cra**y enough to warrant the sound.
