I think the preference on interior is really a matter of personal taste. For example, I personally prefer the interior of the 987 over the 981. Porsche added too many buttons and really went away from a focused interior with the 981/991/Panamera etc. To me the 987 and 997 come across as a more modern version of the air cooled cars, it's completely functional and for the most part intuitive.

One thing I really like about the 987 is the rear! I love the swoopy organic shape of the red taillights and the curve of the hips.

Drove an R, seemed much louder than my S. Tail shot of my 987S, doesn't have the hips of your turbo.

I like the 987 Spyder better (I know I'm biased) but I like the more rounded rear deck, the top attachment system and the fact it doesn't have "spyder" plastered all over it like the new ones. I also think the panel integration is better. I know the new one is faster but mine is fast enough for me. I had to listen to an hour of blather from a 2006 Vette owner at a HS graduation party last night about how his car would kill it. I wanted to tell him to look up GM race wins versus Porsche but instead I just let him prattle on, after all he would be faster I realize that. The only thing I called him on was when he tried to claim Bridgestone Potenza was the ultimate tire, I told him I changed mine out early for birthday P Zero units, thought he was going to have a stroke.

I can see that. The new 981's look incredibly sharp. They look great. There's also something classic about some of the rounded curves on the 987. Very different looks.

John, yeah I could look at this rear all day...
