Default 981 Spyder Tire Issues

Want to report a Slow tire leak on my silver. Last time had tire issues with her it was a pothole on 24th Street between 10th and 11th Ave in the middle of winter on my second time out lol. This time leak came out of nowhere on an evening drive- not a fast leak like last time with the pothole where the Pressure Plunged like a Nasa Countdown- this is a slow leak over 24 hours first -6 then 24 hrs later -11. 8k miles on her and I bought the 3rd party tire/wheel insurance Manhattan Porsche recommended at time of purchase. Porsche USA sent over a tow truck this morning and she's on her way to Walter's Porsche my new local dealership and sponsor of this thread. I think the tire needs to be ordered just like last time so it's going to be a couple days which is a little like salt on the wound.

Still LOVE MY 981 SPYDERS and consider myself Lucky to be an owner - even though I'm feeling she's a little prone to injury.

Prone to injury? Not on NYC streets. I have a 2012 SL550 and I swear to Vishnu/Buddha/Jehovah it gets a nail in a tire every 1,000 miles, which caused a slow leak. Just replaced a rear tire at Mercedes Manhattan. $868.00, including over $200 of labor.

That's why I only take my Spyder out of the garage to get OUT of the city.

But I am terribly sorry this happened to you again. What was your experience using the wheel/tire insurance? I also have it.

Thanks for commiserating. NYC streets are torture on tires and wheels! When they scrape the streets to repair the pot-holes it makes it all worse and then the process starts all over again. Busy here with my move, but honestly I wouldn't have bought the insurance but my better half is all for that type of thing. So far it's what I expected.. it's not the second coming as it's made out to be.

Will the insurance cover the replacement?

Makes me sick how craptacular our roads are....

NYC roads are the worst. West Side Highway not too bad but side streets and FDR are like Mogadishu. RS and Spyder rarely make it into town anymore.

LOL, ^^"MOGADISHU". The FDR is incredibly horrendous to navigate without sustaining road damage FYI those who haven't lived in Manhattan.

In Closing - Insurance covered all the costs of the tire repair and I got a car wash too! Thank you Walter's and Tire/Wheel Insurance Company.

So I got to visit the new dealership in Riverside City and have a fancy cup of coffee in the wait area while ogling a racing yellow 911 GTS with the sport design pkg which just looks incredible to me. I want it but ...

Don't feel too bad. I hit a freeway onramp pothole too fast and ruined a tire with only 250 miles on it. Yes these 20" Pirellis are pretty delicate. I am liking the 19" Pilot Sports on my 911 GTS a bit better.
