Default Front valence on 2016 981S

I looked at a number of 2015 and 2016 Boxsters (base and GTS). All seem to have the rubber strip in the very front lower portion of the front bumper (valence). Mine does not. I do have XPEL. Could the rubber strip have been removed to accommodate the XPEL coating? Or did Porsche (or the dealer) simply forget to put it on the car either after the XPEL was applied, or from the factory?

My base 2013 had no rubber strip below the painted bumper. Don't believe the S does either.

My '15 CGTS has this strip.

A couple of points:

1) This can be a sacrificial piece that may come off if it's scraped on a speed bump, driveway, etc.
2) There was a thread (somewhere) that indicated that this piece was installed at the dealer during their pre-delivery prep.

I believe it can be bought and installed rather easily (?).

Dealer is installing tomorrow, appropriately at their expense.

Was it in fact determined that the valance is a dealer installed item that should have been done prior to delivery??

I'm hearing that the valence is factory installed and that it simply may have been overlooked by Porsche. Whether factory or dealer, someone missed it. Had a new one installed today. It's a $60 part that clicks into place then slides over tabs to anchor. Dealer picked up charges - as they should.

Glad the dealer took responsibility and fixed it at no cost to you.

Now you can zoom down the PA turnpike knowing that your Boxster is now aerodynamically balanced front and back.

Was 50.001 rear 49.999 front - could tell car was unbalanced. Now it's ready to roll!
