I don't know when they'll stop building the 6 cylinder version, but I do know that all USA allocations are taken.

Pretty sure it's over. If you want a flat 6, you better start looking at dealerships all over.

I think I saw somewhere that the 718"s were to start coming off the line in June. That may not be accurate but I know the 981 allocations are about all gone and the last build date I'm aware of is early May.

I got one of the last seven 981 build spots for the US. Allocations are gone. Just got my car home yesterday, and will be posting pics today. Car is gorgeous. One day before the blizzard. Into hibernation from there. A side note. I ordered the car with aluminum pedals and not sure I love them. Will post pics of them. Do others have them, and are you happy with your choice? Thinking of swapping them out for standard pedals. I thought they were rubber with aluminum surrounds, but they're solid aluminum including the footrest. Need guidance here. Thanks!

Wow, one of the last 7 non-spyders allocated to the U. S. That's a pretty cool fact.

So, that tells me that unless the factory is still building 981's for other countries, then the Spyder is the only 981 that they are currently building.

Edit: Wow, one of the last 7 non-spyder/GT4's allocated to the U. S.

Oh yes. My mistake. Thanks for pointing that out! I view both Spyder and GT4 information frequently because of their similarities and in my mind, I tend to join the two together even though knowing the differences in the two. Having a Spyder on order, I think subconsciously my thoughts focus on the Spyder. Bottom line is that 2016 builds of the Spyder/GT4 appear at present to be the last 981's through the assembly line, whereas fall 2015 builds overlapped with non-Spyder/GT4s being built.

Never been a fan of the aluminum pedals. Like the standard ones much better.

I like the look and feel of mine. Pretty sure they will scratch over time but okay with that.

Does anyone know for sure for how long they are going to build the current 6cyl GT4s? Or is it a car like the Spyder that has a predetermined run and once the allocations are gone, it's done. If resurrected, will it be a 4 or 6cyl? The only thing we really know is that the 718 will be base and S model Boxsters and Caymans, both 4 cylinder cars. The future of the GT4 is a mystery (at least to me).

Priced out a set of stock pedals (rubber with aluminum surrounds) for 3 pedals plus foot rest - total around $370. Will probably swap out the aluminum pedals in the Spring and sell them privately. They run around $450 for the set at Suncoast.

Phil
Your new S is gorgeous! I think these cars look so good in many of the colors offered and Silver is definitely one of my favorites, as is Sapphire, Guards, and Agate. I have a new favorite every day. As for the pedals, I think Rennline has some nice looking aluminum pedals.
Congrats on the new Porsche. Sorry you have to endure the delayed gratification.
Thanks to El Nino, I just cleaned, serviced and tucked in my BS about a week ago. It was an extended fall and early winter for driving here in New England.
