Default TPC Racing 981 Stage 2 Suspension - Now Available!

TPC Racing is proud to introduce our 981 Stage 2 Suspension Package! Our Stage 2 Suspension Package was developed specifically for use with the well-valved factory shocks(standard and PASM). From daily driving to race track, our package elevates handling performance to the GT level cars without compromising road comfort, giving. The key to maintaining road comfort while increasing lateral grip is using the nicely-valved factory shocks developed by Porsche Engineers. By keeping the shocks at their optimum travel stroke and providing the chassis with just the right amount of additional support we have achieved the ultimate balance giving you the best of both worlds!


Below are the included components of the TPC 981 Stage 2 Suspension Package and their description.


-TPC Racing 981 Pro Race adjustable sway bars with low-friction polyurethane bushing
Our sway bars are 28.8mm 5-hole front / 22.6mm 4-hole rear. These are our newest bars from a long line Championship-winning sway bar designs. CNC bent using our proprietary spring material and wall-thickness to produce the balance and grip desired by top level racers and enthusiasts. Our sway bars are the foundation for all stages from street to pro race. Sway bars have the biggest impact on the balance of the chassis. It has been our approach that there must be a balanced platform before changing shocks and springs. TPC Racing has been developing sway bars and have been supplying pro teams and racing series for over a decade.


-TPC Racing 981 Pro Race adjustable drop links*

Fully-adjustable links with low-friction solid joints to efficiently transfer load. Noise suppressing rubber boots are included.


-TPC Racing 981 Pro Race adjustable rear toe links w/ bump correction

The factory non-adjustable rear toe link on the 981 is essentially the same as the 987 and 986. This is one of the components on the car which the Porsche Engineers could have designed a better piece but didn't. Likely due the amount of lateral g-force the company is willing to offer for a car in this price range and the increased manufacturing cost. By eliminating the inner rubber bushing the rear toe becomes much more stable. The increased stability achieved by TPC Pro Race adjustable rear toe links equates to more precise feel and more rear grip! Our toe links are very similar in design to the factory Cup car links including the bumpsteer correction. We only use supreme quality Aurora bearings for longevity even for extreme track use with very sticky tires.


-TPC Racing 981 Sport Springs
Once we improved the grip and balance of our 981 test cars to as much as we can get using only our sway bars and toe links, we were going 3-4 seconds quicker per lap, we knew that we can shave off more seconds by lowering the car with slightly stiffer springs. We then track tested the limited choices of spring that were available including the factory "sport" springs. We found that the readily available selection to be either too low and/or not stiff enough to achieve the results we want. So, that part of the development led us to researching spring type, winding pitches, and most importantly the alloy to produce the handling characteristic to match the car's suspension design. We concluded that we need to work in collaboration with a spring winding company to make private label springs to our requirements. And that we did! After a tested several different designs we present you with our TPC Racing 981 Sport Springs made with a proprietary spring alloy imported from Europe, ~17mm drop, 10 stiffer than factory for just enough added support while maintaining a very smooth ride!

With all of the above components we have made a Big improvement! With the increased lateral g's and cornering speed(using the same tires) we created just a touch over corner exit oversteer. To get that grip back so that we can go even faster we implemented knowledge gained from our pro racing program- lengthen the wheelbase slightly and further improve the rear toe curve by replacing the factory rear thrust arm bushings with our billet aliuminum offset solid thrust bushings. As with all TPC products,we provide the setup details and tech support so there is no experimentation on your end. We now have a perfectly balance car at much higher speed that doesn't comprise comfort and refinement.
