So I recently traded my 2010 base for this 2013 S. Drove to TN to do the deal which may seem a bit crazy since I live in RI, but it gave me the chance to drive the Skyline Drive in VA on the way down in my old Boxster and the Blue Ridge PKWY on the way back up in the new car. What an amazing driving experience. A great time of year for this trip as it was 70 degrees and sunny but early enough for the roads to be almost empty of other travelers. I thought I would have some misgivings about letting go of the 2010 Boxster but the 981 S is an amazing car. Love it!
As you can see from the pix it is Agate over Black, Platinum Satinmat 20" Carrera S Wheels with Color Matched Crests, 6 Speed Manual, Sport Chrono, PASM, Sport Exhaust, 14 way seats, Parking Sensors front and rear, Bose/Infotainment, Seat Heating and Ventilation, PDLS, Sport Design Steering Wheel 3,000 miles (when purchased) CPO till 1/21/19. Now I can only hope all the bells and whistles don't break any time soon cause this car is such a thrill to drive and pretty cushy at the same time.

Beautiful car and road trip. I drive those exact roads as often as possible. We never get tired of them.

Thanks guys- I also stayed at the Switzerland Inn one night where the BRBS folks gather (sounds like a good time) and drove the Diamondback which is a fun loop but the pavement was pretty bad with loose tar and quite lumpy. The Blue Ridge however was excellent, I had never been through there before but I will certainly go back. Such a beautiful place.

Love to stay there as it is so serene and peaceful. We often stay in Boone or Blowing Rock because we have some favorite restaurants there, but we found the restaurant at the Switzerland Inn to be fantastic as well.

The Diamondback has deteriorated quite a bit over the years. Now that they are promoting to motorcyclists and sportscar drivers a la Tail of the Dragon, perhaps the county will do some resurfacing and better upkeep. It is even worse when riding a motorcycle. If you are ever back that way, be sure to drive the Cherohala Skyway between Robbinsville, NC and Telico Plains, TN. It's about 20 miles south of the Dragon so the whole trip is worth the journey. You could Interstate to the Gatlinburg area, cut over on the picturesque Little Pigeon River Road to Townsend, TN, catch the Foothills Parkway there which ends at the north end of the Dragon. Head south to slay the Dragon and catch the Cherohala. You'll be in sportscar heaven from Gatlinburg on. Just don't do it in the summer time or peak leaf season.

Speeddeacon- thanks for the tips on those other areas, I will file it in my travel notes. And point well taken about doing it in the right season, nothing worse than getting stuck behind a long line of RVs

I don't think you're crazy at all! I flew down to Virginia Beach with a friend and drove my Spyder back in 1 day. Heck of a day, that was! The bay bridge in Virginia was amazing, but what I didn't realize was that 13 and 1 into Delaware were absurdly slow strictly enforced 50mph roads with tons of stoplights. Still, we had great weather, too and enjoyed it a lot.

I hope to meet you at a PCA event or cars and coffee some time!

Supa-
I joined the CVR region of PCA instead of the Northeast region on the advice of a friend, fellow Porscheophile and track guy, because we are sort of in between geographically, but maybe we will run into each other at a C&C in Taunton sometime. By the way I love that Aqua Blue Spyder of yours. I got to drive a Spyder a few weeks ago and was very impressed but I opted for the more cushy ride as I will be doing more touring than tracking.

Thanks Dino- I may leave the 987 up there for sentimental reasons as she was my first.

Awesome car man. Good find! I'm seriously looking at this car, but as those that know me, I kick a lot of tires!

That car looks like it has the right stuff. For me, looking for a slightly used one it took a long time to find one with the options I wanted. If you are going to buy new you can get what ever you want I suppose.
