I also had a 987S before ('05 987.1) and agree that pedal feel was firmer and better than the 981. The GT3 master cylinder has definitely been an upgrade and has made the pedal feel substantially firmer. It's still slightly softer than my 993TT pedal which is almost absurdly firm, but I'm certainly pleased with the setup now for either street or track use.
The cost is pretty modest too in the grand scheme of doing broader engine/brake/etc swap, master cylinder part is ~$400 plus a little labor.

Came upon this thread as I'm agonizing as to how to proceed with my '06 Cayman S with a blown engine. I do 12-15 track days/year and also use the Porsche as a daily driver in the summer. Still as thrilled with the car as you were right after the conversion? Thanks.

Thanks to Lee’s trailblazing, there are actually a number of us now with the BGB’s 3.8 conversion. I’ve had mine for about a year, and I still think it’s fantastic. My build thread is on P9: http://www.planet-9.com/981-cayman-b...onversion.html
Another P9 member just got his PowerKit car back and also posted a build thread on P9: http://www.planet-9.com/981-cayman-b...r-car-mod.html

I think if you have a blown engine doing a conversion to a 3.8L is a no brainer. Financially, it's a bit more debatable if you have a car that is running perfectly well but if I had a blown engine I'd go big or go home. I've got two X51 conversions and I love them both.
