Fine tuning order, please help
Getting ready to place order for 981. Do I need Bi-Xenon headlights? Does the standard sound system need upgrading? Thanks for your help. So far base 981, basalt black, luxor beige interior, 19" Boxster S wheels, heated seats, sport design steering wheel. Thanks for your help.
I couldn't agree more. As far as the sound system is concerned, I'm not an audiophile and 90% of the time I'm listening to talk radio. So the base system was good enough for me. Listen to the standard and upgraded systems and judge for yourself. Self dimming mirrors are a safety item that you should consider. I also like rain sensing wippers, but I'm not certain if they are a standard offering. I think the coinvenience package incorporates the basic options at a reasonable price.
imho, bixenons are a must. i think the standard audio is ample. you are in a relatively noisy car, and i seriously doubt that you can distinguish one stereo from another. i'd put the quality into a home system (and the cost of good home audio is probably much lower than upgrading car audio). not sure where you are, but consider ventilated seats. oh, the luxor beige dash glares in the windshield.
I agree about bi-xenons. I have them on both of my Porsches and they're great. I specifically looked for bi-xenons (among other options) when I was searching for the Spyder.
I don't know why Porsche has decided to separate bi-xenons from dynamic cornering... In 987.2 cars bi-xenons came with dynamic cornering even if it doesn't say it on the window sticker.
My Spyder's window sticker said "bi-xenons" only when I've seen many other stickers that said "bi-xenons w/ dynamic cornering". So I assumed that my Spyder didn't have dynamic cornering. To my pleasant surprise, however, it quickly became apparent that they do rotate when I turned them on for the first time.
I'm not sure how useful the dynamic cornering is, though. YMMV.

the dynamic cornering seems to be most useful at low speeds, where steering angles are likely to be the largest! i noticed it on my 328i, where the beams clearly diverge as i enter the 20mph corner into my subdivision at night. but at 60mph, who turns the wheel more than 1/4 turn under most circumstances?
