Default Opinions on the 19" wheels?

I may also be ordering a Boxster next year. Base with few options except the top line adjustable sport seats. I have some back problems and my Z3 is getting very difficult to sit in for more than 30 minutes without a back brace. The seats are not wearing, but my back is. No problems with my 2008 Corvette so far. So my question is would the Boxster S wheels with lower profile tires improve the handling and steering feel a significant amount, or do they just look better?

See, but you're lucky in that you own a 981 with the digital info. For us lame-duck 986 & 987 owners, there's no way to get oil temp and pressure info without getting creative! That's what I'm unhappy about - how come 987/986 SPORTS CARS have no oil temp/pressure while Panamera/wagon and an SUV get them?

As VetMan notes above re analog gauges, get RID of the speedometer. Takes up a bunch of nice real estate and is (IMHO) never looked at for speed determination.

Did not know that about the 986/987 cars. I agree that isn't right.

Couldn't agree more! That makes no sense. All true sportscars should have all the gauges. Sadly so many don't give you much at all. All new Aston's and Maserati's for example just give you just the basic 4! WTH??!!

Default light color interior shades...

+1 Agreed. However the current "tan" interior is much to tan for my taste's.

As an aside, Porsche once offered a standard option interior color known as
"light grey/beige". My old MY88 944 coupe's exterior was Stone Grey Metallic (LY7U) over light grey beige leather. The thinking of the days,,, was the choice btw the two dark options, either the black interior or the burgundy.

Before spending $2,800 on the Sport Exhaust I would recomend driving one without it. I have owned two other Boxsters and the base 981 sounds better than any of them.

I had PSE on my RS60 Spyder and not on my 981S ..

981S standard exhaust is as vocal as RS60 with PSE on, and louder at town speeds as PSE is muted

after 3500 miles, I also started getting lift off burbling too ..

The 981 sport exhaust gives you the ability to extract multiple tones from the engine and you can play it like a musical instrument. It's touch sensitive. Stomp on it in 4th gear and it sounds V8ish. Feather it to redline and the growl increases until it peaks just beyond 6000 rpm. Go easy and you can't tell it's on. When you scream past a car on the highway at redline, nobody is going to think they were just passed by a Boxster.

The stock engine sounds great, PSE sounds better. Of the options I chose it's my favorite.

Since people were asking questions about it, here is a pic of the TFT screen showing vehicle info.

The four rows of info are configarable, in the pic they are set to show:

- Water temp
- Oil temp
- Oil pressure
- Radio channel
