Default Question for 981 owners

I know it's early but just wondering how's you car's quality? Any problems yet? It's not unusual for there to be couple bugs on new car releases.

981S 2 months old, 1800 miles.

apart from a rattle from the glovebox on bumpy roads, all fine.

however, on delivery:

1. driver's side (RHD) front wing and bumper joint was terrible .. fixed under warranty.

2. I had Boxster S kickplate on passenger side, and Boxster on driver's side. Also fixed under warranty.

nothing else.

Dealer was excellent. Trailered a Cayenne Diesel (I asked for 1) and trailered my 981 to their workshop. Then trailered 981 back to me, and trailer Cayenne. Dealer is 120 miles away. Excellent service.

Thanks SFO. That's not bad at all for a new model. I'll be buying one in about six months and I wanted to see if there's anyting I should be on the watch for.

Mine is a little more than two months old now. No problems at all.
No rattle or any strange noises. Build quality looks pretty much perfect.

Only problem is that the radio/CD user manual was delivered in German... dealer called me last week and told me that he got the Swedish one now, so that will be fixed!
Not really a problem with the car itself, but it's the only thing I can complain about so far...

My car came without CDR31 manual .. still not available as they are on back order. But it's self explanatory anyway.

the responsiveness and thrust of the engine is improving and is truly wonderful. I honestly can say that no more power is needed for UK roads.

XM antenna was not working at delivery, but replaced soon thereafter. Now all is fine, the car is flawless and a joy to drive (and just stare at)

Thanks guys. Porsche has been noted for its high quality cars, and it looks like the 981 is no exception.

For kpg1945... I'm not hijacking the thread because I think the thread is about dead... but a comment about staring at the car. I understand. It's not just the 981. It also happens with my 987 and it happened a lot with my 911SC. I'd just stand in the garage and stare at it sometimes. It's weird. That's when you know you have a Porsche problem for sure.

Mine arrived yesterday after four months of waiting with paint damage/scratches beneath the clear coat. Hard to believe this passed final inspection as the scratches were obviously on the car when shipped. It looked almost as if someone carved their initials in the paint before the clear coat was applied. I'm not crazy about buying a new Porsche that needs to be re-painted and haven't decided what to do. This does make me question current quality control.

I would not accept a respray, either ask them to order a new car with discount due to the inconvenience or try to find something in inventory (hard to do I know).

If it's for DD use and the car will look beat up after a year then ask for a hefty discount to take the car after repairs.

I should add that the damage was on the bumper which is the only section needing repainting. The body of the car was fine.

If you decide to go the repainting route, I would advise that you take a quality picture of the bumper before the repaint to assure a future buyer that your car only had cosmetic damage. Personally, I agree with Marine Blue. I would not accept a respray.
