It seems that Porsche increased the price for the PSE significantly.
Tariffs hit a number of different parts, some more than others. I was following some brake light lenses and saw the price jump dramatically. I should have bought sooner
Has anyone ordered one of the Carnewal exhausts lately? I’d like to dive in but concerned about how much of an annoyance dealing with the tariffs will be. Curious to hear other’s experience.

I ordered one in the spring and didn't have to deal with any tariffs. My friend also bought one this summer without tariffs. Gert is fabulous to deal with and I think the Carnewal exhaust (on my base 981) is very close to my PSE on my 987 Spyder. My wife has no complaints either.
I’ve been browsing around and trying to decide on which unit is right for me. I’ve been trying to gauge the sonic differences between Valvetronic, Soul, Suncoast, etc, but feel like the Carnewal is my best bet considering I’d like to get a better sound out of my Boxster S without being the center of attention.
The only issue with Carnewal is that I want to use my own exhaust (has only 8k miles on) and can't leave the car with my Indy after he takes it down. With Borla and (non valved) Soul I am just worried that after a while it will be too loud. The valved Soul is just too expensive.I am thinking to order a PSE directly from Germany. The prices over there are still the same. I think I can score one with shipping for around $2k (when available)

These guys do it in the US. I think I'm gonna go this way as I've all but given up on getting a PSE.
I bought a Carnewal directly from Gert. About 2 weeks after delivery I got a $200 FedEx bill. Gert told me before ordering but I wasn't paying attention. Anyway, the exhaust is great so I was ok with that cost. My old one is available if anyone needs an exhaust.
I installed 981 PSE mufflers myself with the help of my son but without the vacuum lines and switch. PSE is on all the time and sound is just perfect for me. The vacuum turns it off.
It's actually easy and about 1.5 hours taking our time slowly.
Remove the bolts from flange and the brace assembly from the transmission housing. Pull out the whole muffler assembly. Assemble the PSE with tips to the brace and install with new flange gaskets. Put a dab of nickel based anti-seize to the bolts as they are in rust prone area.
Best upgrade and the true sound signature of a Porsche.
Edit: Browse YouTube too
I’ve also got the chance to buy a second hand pse, the valves move abit but not currently free enough to possibly work off the vacuum.
is it worth buying to try and repair/fix or even fitting without connecting up?
would it be too loud when normal driving with the valves open all the time?

I drive open all the time. It’s fine if you like exhaust sounds. If the price is right it’s probably worth it as new PSE are more expensive now and tough to get. You can probably lubricate the valves and get them to work. I think you can also buy just that part.
Has anyone regretted to upgrade to the Soul system? As much as I like the sound of the Soul, I think it is completely removing the typical Porsche sound and makes the car sound more like a muscle car. I really like the ticking Porsche sound, just want it to be louder and more dominant. I know PSE is the way to go for that case but we all know the pain with the PSE availability. I have a source in Germany who is trying to get me a PSE but if that does not go through I am thinking to go for Soul valved. My main worry with Soul is that I will spend all that money and will find out that my sock exhaust was better (for my ears!?). I know there is also Carnewal but I don't want to go for Carnewal.
