Default Joyeauto upgrade in Dallas area

Anyone have any recs on who can do a retrofit CarPlay upgrade in the Dallas area? I love my boxster S - this is only thing keeping me from driving it another 20 years.

I've just completed this myself, and while I'm alright at alot of maintenance bits, I was intimidated.

It's a pain, but it's very doable at home. There's some great videos on YouTube that can take you through it. Set aside a morning, deep breath and get stuck in!

Just make sure you get the new ribbon connectors inside the correct way round otherwise you will have a dead screen on completion and may instigate a small coronary...

To me the hardest part was getting the damn CD changed off. Those tabs hold it on tight.

Otherwise, not bad. But I have experience with computers and other electronics.

The ribbon cables in the PCM are sturdy and the clips holding them are easy to open. Compared to others I’ve had to mess with. No prying and so little risk of pulling one out or slicing one.

maybe if you have a friend that’s repaired an iPhone or built a computer before…. But them a six pack in exchange for the work

I was looking at Mr12Volt, which seemed to be a better quality unit. I decided to go with a new Android unit instead. Bigger, better screen and looks great. Most can’t tell it’s not factory unless they know what the factory one looks like.
There is a great thread on the 991 forum page about them and the members there were a great help when I made the swap. They even created an install manual for it from users experiences. I made the swap in less than an hour.
Some people want to stick with the factory unit and that is fine also, but just wanted you to be aware of this as an option.

Why go joyauto over Mr12volt? The joy system is very dated.
