Default How much coolant is too much?

I recently had the "Refill coolant" warning pop up on the MFD, so I stopped by my local Porsche dealer and bought a gallon of coolant and got a gallon of distilled water to mix it with. Since I had no idea how low it might be, I mixed a half-pint of coolant with a half-pint of distilled water and added it slowly to the fill tube. The float didn't budge, so I mixed another pint and repeated.

Long story short, the float didn't budge for the first 3 pints, then, about halfway through the 4th pint, it shot up well above the MAX mark and settled down to about a half an inch above the MAX mark. The manual says not to let the top of the float go past the MAX mark. Is this a big problem? If so, is it fixable without getting the car up on a lift and draining some of the coolant out?

Not a problem. The coolant system has an overflow that will drain excess fluid as you drive around.

Bigger issue is what caused the low coolant. Suggest you have the coolant system pressure tested. The overflow reservoirs are known to crack.
