2015 Boxster GTS vs 2009 Carrera S thoughts?

What are your thoughts about how the GTS compares to a 911 carrera? I have owned a 2002 Boxster S, a 2008 Boxster RS60, a 2009 Carrera S (997.2), and now I just bought a 2015 Boxster GTS. I realized after owning the previous boxsters, I want a convertible. But mainly, after several track days with the Carrerra, I realized I like the handling of the Boxster mid-engine over the rear-engine 911. Is there something wrong with me? The 911 had 385 hp and great power, but this GTS with 330 hp and well balanced platform feels more nimble and just a quick. Just curious what folks think. I mean obviously I'd like to move up next to a Boxster GTS 4.0 with the 911 engine and then it's a done deal (reminds me of the old 914/6).

I would get the Boxster way before the Carrera. I am saying that not because I am in a 981 forum but because it is the truth (for me). I also own a 992 GT3 and a 991.2 so I obviously like 911s as well. I have 120k original miles by me between these three and none of them are my daily driver. I just like to drive.
My 981 Boxster looks fantastic. It is a mid-engine roadster, convertible, red, manual, 2 seater, extremely well balanced, handles better than my Carrera (not the GT3 though). Not over powered for the street. Naturally aspirated and sounds fantastic with PSE. Driving the car on country roads with the top down and screaming around corners is intoxicating! It's a dream car! My favorite car to drive. It's not a track car but neither is my Carrera as it is AWD and has a sunroof.
The Carrera has serious under steer when pushed to limits. It's a coup, Turbo and much quieter (although I am fixing that with a Sharkwerks X-pipe this weekend). The car seems huge compared to my 981. The turbo gives it a really nice low end torque that the 2009 C2S wont have though. It's a 911 and has more prestige to some but that doesn't matter to me.
Get the 981. The GTS is awesome.

After 2 boxsters and then getting my lifelong dream 911, my first thought was just what you said - it felt much bigger! I don't need the back seat area. I can carry golf clubs in boxster much better. My new to me, 2015 Boxster GTS is being shipped this week, I fell in love with this rhodium silver. I track the cars 4 - 5 times a year.

I loved my 09 C2. A c2s would be quicker for sure IMO. It comes down to drop top or not and if the 997.2 is PDK because the PDK on the first gen cars was quite a bit slower than PDK on the 991/981 cars.

I hear ya, I was in basic training when woodstock happened, luckily that was towards the end of war and I didn't make it to nam. I hate it when people tell me 'thank you for your service'... back then people treated us like ****.

Thanks for this feedback! I'm planning to drive the 991 GT3 at the Las Vegas Speedway just to see what it's like! I loved my 997.2 which many said was the last true porsche, size, etc, but I realized I like dropping the top when I enjoy the car and also the 911 felt bigger and heavier (subjective feeling). I'm happy I made the right decision on the GTS. Maybe the only other future classic will be the GTS 4.0 (reminds me of the same concept behind the 914/6).
