Default Burning Smell on Hard Acceleration

Hey all!

Curious to know if this is one of those normal "porsche smells" I keep hearing about, or something I should get looked into.

Have a 981 GT4 with higher mileage. I can confirm it does have a small exhaust leak where the header meets the muffler, so this whole issue could just be that, however, whenever I accelerate hard, with the window down only, I get a bit of a burning type smell which goes away quickly. If I drive calmly, shifting around 3.5k, taking it easy, no smell at all, if I bang thru the gears revving it out, I get the smell.

It is 100% not burning clutch, I am familiar with what that smell like, and this ain't it.

The car does have an unknown cobb tune on it which I am planning on swapping for a Softronics tune.

You all think this is something I should get checked out, or get the exhaust leak fixed first and go from there? The reason I've been putting off fixing the exhaust leak is because I may do a SOUL exhaust anyway.

You shouldn’t really smell anything while you’re driving. Fix the exhaust and check for oil leaks while you’re under there

I do have some burning rubber smells after driving the Cayman hard. Best guess it's the tiny tire pieces maybe hitting the hot exhaust.

First fix the exhaust leak. When driven hard the exhaust and the rotors/pads get very hot. Any accumulated road grime, tire rubber, dust, etc. will bake off and smell.

Yea, we all have that. It's been chalked up to a unique feature of this car I think lol

It’s confirmation that you are driving the car the way it should be. As long as there is no smoke it’s like the smell of victory.
