Hello, in the last year my aircon has been regassed a few times, the first time was last April after a garage replaced both the front condensers and a few weeks later it started getting weaker and not blowing as cold. It also got quite noisy with hissing & gurgling sounds coming from behind the dash when in use. They diagnosed that the 'o' rings weren't properly seated on the pipes into one of the condensers so repaired and regassed it. This work was done under warranty which has since expired and last Nov/Dec the aircon started making the same noises and this time would only blow cold air on one side of the car before shortly giving up completely. Today I visited my local a/c specialist who checked the car and found it empty of gas. He cleaned the system, regassed, it held charge and he also added some dye so that I can come back in a couple of weeks of driving to see if there's a leak.
The a/c works now, still has some faint hissing sounds, but the thing I have noticed driving it back home is that when I accelerate the hissing and gurgling sounds louder, almost like the gas/bubbles are rushing through faster. When you reach normal driving speed 2-3000rpm it quietens down again.
Any ideas? surely the gas doesn't pump round faster with faster engine speeds? wouldn't there be a relief or diverter valve that negates this or is that what's faulty?
Have your repair shop fill the system with coolant gas with UV dye and wait for it to leak out and then use an UV light to determine where your leak is occurring. I had a leak in the nose gasket on the compressor - just replaced the entire compressor (this was with 22,000 miles on a 2014) mine has been fine ever since.
