Helix Ci7 Compose 8" woofer
Range 35 hz to 2500
Fs 52 hz
Helix Ci7 Compose 4" midrange
Range 110 hz to 7000
Fs 85 hz
Do you think its better to set the crossover for the set as following :
Tweeter HP 2500
midrange HP 200 LP 2500
Woofer HP 35 LP 200
What do you think ?
Sounds like a good plan. If you want to go an extra step, model the midrange using a 0.5 liter enclosure. That should tell you where to crossover the midrange and woofer.
Well, I noticed that you crossed your midbass over at 30 hz which is below your speaker's FS (40 hz), so I thought to do something similar (HP 35 hz) since it sound good to you.
My plan was totally inspired by you however I just got the Audisons few month ago. I wanted to get the midbass similar to what you have (10") but they are expensive + adapter needed. I spent alot on this hobby from Amp to experiments etc.
I bought the Helix Ci7 midrange and midbass sets with their adapters + shipping, less than a set of your 10 inch midbass ! 😀 I wanted to get the Ci7 tweeters as well but unfortunately I think they dont fit due to their height.
I may replace the factory rear speakers with soon to be removed Audison midranges, but I am doing some search on how to remove rear speaker grill.
Do you use what they call Roadkill foam pad rings for the outside and inside of your midbass ?
I installed Helix 10" Subwoofer enclosure that powered by MATCH 2.1 amp. This enclosure fit very well in the small trunk space.
Worth it? I dont know yet, still experimenting with tuning, I crossed the sub HP 37 hz LP 55 hz. Because I have Helix 8" woofers in the doors and to avoid localization.
The problem with those cars are the road and engine noise, it drop the calrity of the sub , but so far its cleaner than playing two doors woofers only. But the question is : is it worth spending around $1000 or less to play frequency range from 37 to 55 hz ?!
