Default Steering Swap recommendations

Hello everyone,

I have a 981 Boxster S and would like to upgrade my Steering to the 718 steering.

I know I have to to get the GPS converter but I am struggling with the color as there aren't any Carrera Red 718 style steering and was wondering how would the black one look on a fully carrera red interior.

your thoughts are appreciated

thank you

There are tons of people who modify steering wheels with perforated leather, carbon fiber, thumb grips, flat bottoms, etc. Any one of them should be able to use Carrera Red when they upholster the rim.

The airbag you likely wouldn’t be able to reupholster safely. So, you’d have something like this.

I think a black wheel and airbag would look good with so much red in the rest of the interior.

This seller on eBay has a number of wheels in stock. I've purchased from him before and had a great experience. He can customize the wheel to your liking, including adding or removing multifunction buttons, adding an adapter so you don't need a separate gpsadapter, etc.

I have this 718 steering wheel I never ended up using, if you're up for a small project and like the look of this wheel - I think it looks great with the hollow spoke trim pieces and has a much nicer, meatier grip than the 981 wheel.
