Default Why Boxster and Cayman spoilers aren't interchangeable

I've heard the Boxster and Cayman spoilers weren't interchangeable. I thought this was because of different mounting brackets. So, I purchased Schnell Autosports adapter brackets.

Unfortunately the rear quarter panel of the Boxster and Cayman are different where they meet the spoiler. This creates a huge gap if you try to put a Boxster spoiler on a Cayman.

This is something Schnell really should have mentioned...

Yea I'm also a little confused as to why schnell even offers the brackets if the spoiler fits like this.

Once again, appreciate your effort in trying to find an oem solution to the ducktail spoiler for the cayman.

Is that an OEM spyder spoiler?

I’ll be curious to hear what Schnell say once you provide them feedback.

The Schnell brackets came out years ago, and I seem to recall they were for use with the factory GT4 ducktail? Of course it's in a fixed position on that model, however its a Cayman, so the the fitment should work correctly. Then again I could be completely mis-remembering the details as its been nearly 8 years since people first started trying to fit the GT4 ducktail to the other Cayman models. I can't recall if the Spyder wing was even in play back at that time when Schnell started making those brackets?

this is the product description

These mounting brackets are made for 981 Cayman owners who are upgrading their stock spoiler to the 981 Boxster Spyder spoiler. As the 981 Boxster Spyder has different mounting points vs the stock 981 Cayman spoiler.

*Please note: This will only work on 981 Cayman models.
